"Schopenhauer tells us of a colony of porcupines wont to huddle together...able neither to tolerate nor to do without one another, until they discovered that when they stood at a certain distance..they could delight in one another's individuality and enjoy one another's company. Unknown to themselves they'd invented civil association"

The CIA, William Colby
At the link http://dailycaller.com/2011/10/17/a-closer-look-at-ex-cia-spymaster-william-colby/ Matt Lewis has a post which brings to my attention a new documentary film on CIA director William Colby. Included is the film's trailer and a roughly 24 minute extended conversation between Lewis and the filmmaker, Colby's son, which is well worth a listen. In the latter is this description of the CIA from the director: "the CIA exists to give the President an option between a formal diplomatic protest and sending in the marines."
